With a strong foundation in research, Dr. Toroitich has conducted extensive studies on sustainable agriculture practices and their impact on food security and environmental conservation. Her research not only contributes to advancing knowledge in the field but also informs practical strategies for improving agricultural productivity while preserving the natural resources upon which it depends. Dr. Toroitich's experience extends beyond the research domain, as she actively engages with farmer groups to promote inclusivity and participatory approaches in agricultural development initiatives. She has led capacity-building programs for farmers in Siaya and Nakuru Counties under the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project (KCSAP) and the National Agriculture and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP), focusing on building resilience to climate change and enhancing food security. In addition to her work with farmer groups, Dr. Toroitich has conducted food security studies in Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet counties as part of the AWSC consortium, contributing valuable insights into the factors affecting food security and livelihoods in these regions. Dr. Toroitich is also actively involved in advocacy efforts aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices and environmental stewardship. She has participated in roundtable discussions and contributed to op-ed articles advocating for the safe use of pesticides in agriculture to protect beneficial organisms and preserve biodiversity. As a Trainer of Trainers for Nakuru Plant doctors under CABI's Plantwise program, Dr. Toroitich has played a key role in building the capacity of agricultural extension workers to diagnose and manage plant pests and diseases effectively.
